Julia Sieglers death resonates through biz
Exec's daughter killed in traffic accident
She was a bright, vivacious 13-year-old who loved dancing and the color purple.
Julia Siegler, daughter of industry vet Scott Siegler, was killed in a traffic accident on Friday in Brentwood as she crossed Sunset Boulevard to catch a bus to Harvard-Westlake School, where she was in the eighth grade. Friends and associates of Siegler and his wife, former film marketing exec Jody Cukier, were stunned as word of the family’s devastating loss spread through the biz.
Julia Siegler was hit by two cars in what police described as a “horrible accident” at about 7:20 a.m. while crossing Sunset at Cliffwood Drive, near the family home in Brentwood. Siegler, who would have turned 14 on March 27, was on her way to the Harvard-Westlake middle school campus near Bel-Air.

Friends described Julia as extraordinarily bright, mature beyond her years and a dedicated student of dance. A number of her friends held an impromptu memorial Friday night at the accident site. They also created a “Rest in Peace Julia Siegler” tribute page on Facebook that quickly overflowed with tributes, photos and videos dedicated to the girl remembered for her “beautiful, happy spirit,” in the words of one commentor.
Initial reports described the accident as a hit-and-run case, but police said Saturday that in fact both drivers stopped and remained at the scene until Siegler was taken away in an ambulance, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Times reported that as Siegler crossed Sunset against a red light, she was grazed by the side-view mirror of one car, lost her balance and then was run over by the car that followed.
In addition to her parents, Siegler is survived by a half-brother, Matthew Siegler.
A service for Siegler will be held at 10 a.m. today, March 1, at University Synagogue in Brentwood.
