Critics Choice Awards: Winners 2021

The Critics Choice Awards took place tonight in Los Angeles, after the Golden Globes kicked off awards season last week, paving the way for weeks of star-studded ceremonies.

But the Critics Choice Awards is one night we are always extra excited for. Why? Well, not only does it represent the largest critics body in the US and Canada – with more than 400 entertainment critics and reporters – but historically, they are the most accurate predictor of Oscar nominations. And this year's Critics Choice Awards is happening right in the middle of Oscar nom submissions, with Academy members casting their ballots between 5th and 10th March.

Tonight’s event revealed the winners in 20 movie categories and 19 TV categories. Netflix’s Mank received the most film nominations (12 to be exact), while Ozark and The Crown had the most TV noms, with six each.

And it looks as though Nomadland is set to sweep up awards season, with the epic film starring Frances McDormand winning Best Picture and Best Director at both the Globes and the Critics Choice Awards. Get your Academy Award bets in now, people.
