Best Beauty Pop-Ups 2023-2024 To Shop Makeup, Fragrance & Skincare

Publish date: 2024-02-19

Online shopping is undeniably convenient, but there's nothing quite like the experience of holding a product in your hands. That's why we love beauty pop-ups. They bring back the magic and give you a chance to access the brands you love in a much more 360 way. Sure the web might be able to ship a moisturiser to your door the next day, but you can't feel it, smell it, shade match it or swatch it. So how do you know you're going to love it?

Beauty pop-ups can elevate the whole experience. They give you a proper overview of hero products and brands, then take it a step further with activations and residencies that offer something a little extra. They can give brands that only exist online the chance to connect with customers in IRL and, on the flipside, they give customers the chance to gain expert advice and a better insight into which products to pick, alongside how to get the best out of them.

Now that we're heading towards the holiday season and a New Year, you'll likely find that some of your favourite brands are more inspired than ever to capture your attention.

Bring the festive cheer and tap into treat-yourself season with these innovative pop-ups.

Glossier Realms Of You

When: Until 14th January, 2024

Where: 173 Regent Street, London, W1B 4JQ

In celebration of Glossier's best-selling perfume Glossier You, the brand unveiled a new pop-up in the heart of Central London to treat all the fragrance obsessives to a truly immersive experience, designed to awaken your senses of sight, touch, smell and sound in the most unique way possible. From the hypnotising ASMR room to the intriguing experience at the red booths (no spoilers here, because you have to be there to see just how interesting it is), to say that I was impressed would be an understatement. You'll get to fully immerse yourself in the key components that went into the creation of Glossier You and also get a chance to stock up on the brand's brand new merch – some of which includes the oversized red peppercorn mill and (my fav) the Glossier branded mini mic. A win-win. – Denise Primbet, GLAMOUR's Beauty Commerce Writer.

Pleasing x Selfridges

Harry Styles has officially taken over the Selfridges Corner Shop to showcase his Pleasing beauty and lifestyle brand via a theatre-inspired pop-up. Taking centre stage is Pleasing's first-ever fragrance collection - ‘Closeness’, ‘Bright, Hot’ and ‘Rivulets’ - which has been created in collaboration with esteemed perfumer Jerôme Épinette and is "an exploration of warmth, and specifically, the warmth of a second-skin musk”. Alongside his viral makeup and nail polishes, experience all three scents at specially designed ticket booths, where you will be able to collect a free ‘ticket’ infused with your chosen fragrance. – Fiona Embleton, GLAMOUR's Associate Beauty Director.

Jo Malone London at Battersea Power Station

When it comes to all-out festive pop-ups, Jo Malone London has nailed the brief with a giant gingerbread house, where you can take part in a fragrance masterclass or simply explore the brand’s delectable gingerbread-inspired Christmas collection. Afterwards, why not enjoy a spin on the adjacent ice rink (tickets cost £12.50 for adults)? Jo Malone London is sponsoring this year's Glide and has installed a 30ft Christmas tree, decorated with its signature cream-and-black boxes, which is worthy of a place on your Instagram grid. – Fiona Embleton, GLAMOUR's Associate Beauty Director.

Dr Barbara Sturm Pause Experience

When: Until 15th December

Where: Xydrobe, 11 Carlos Pl, London W1K 3AX

From the moment you step inside you are instantly transported from the London streets, into a warm sunny garden haven, with the sound of birdsong lulling your senses into peaceful relaxation. The 50 minute bookable experience, costing £129, starts with a herbal tea and Barbara Sturm skincare range run through. I then cleansed with the relevant product and headed for a 15 minute, skin rejuvenating LED light session, to the relaxing sound of bird song. (It’s worth wearing a vest top so you can peel off your winter layers and get the maximum body benefit too.)
Next up I headed into the VR capsule for a 15 minute meditative journey through 3 different landscapes. A moment to pause and reflect while marvelling at the otherworldly journey that takes you under the ocean and through a series of caves. in fact I would have happily lingered for a whole while longer! You also leave with two  Dr Sturm products, a sense of renewal and a skin glow that lasts over a week. – Camilla Kay, GLAMOUR's European Beauty Director.

The Cult Of Beauty Exhibition

When: Until 28 April, 2024

This one is for the beauty obsessed. Featuring over 200 objects, films and artworks spanning different cultures and centuries, The Cult of Beauty exhibition explores today's beauty standards through a historical lens. The most curious, perhaps, has to be “mouches”, the 18th-century equivalent of pimple patches to cover smallpox scars. – Fiona Embleton, GLAMOUR's Associate Beauty Director.

Expect to see more pop-ups, um, popping up as we head into spring, too. Watch this space…
